Starwood Fire Station

Starwood Fire Station

Starwood Fire Station 65, set in the scenic surroundings of Aspen, Colorado, embodies safety, innovation, and sustainability. Designed for rapid wildfire response to protect Starwood’s $1.2 billion in residential assets, the station was funded by the neighborhood to enhance protection for its 108 homes.

Discreetly sited off the main road for quick access, the station blends rustic and contemporary elements—clean lines, sustainable Accoya wood, stacked stone, and steel siding—that harmonize with the natural landscape. Solar panels and efficient insulation showcase a commitment to environmental sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

The building includes two firefighter residences, providing convenient, high-quality housing for firefighting families. The units offer an abundance of natural light, storage, and outdoor space, alleviating the challenges of remote, high-cost housing.

Two oversized bays house a 4x4 engine/pumper, Type 3 engine, and auxiliary equipment, with independent operation via a separate entrance and washroom. Station 65 exemplifies community-focused design, strategically safeguarding Starwood while providing on-site housing.ing.
