Virginia Placer Housing
Chosen through a competitive proposal process, CCA designed this affordable housing community on a challenging Telluride site, integrating 18 apartments, a 46-bed boarding house, and three tiny homes to foster inclusivity across varied demographics. The project leverages angled rooflines and expansive windows to frame Telluride’s iconic mountain views, creating a strong connection to the landscape.
The boarding house includes contemporary dayrooms with shared kitchens, as well as a mix of bunk and single rooms equipped with spacious baths and ample storage—tailored for active lifestyles. An expansive lounge deck offers residents sweeping views, encouraging social interaction and connection to nature.
Each apartment maximizes livability with oversized windows, outdoor decks, and high ceilings for enhanced daylight and ventilation. The three tiny homes complete the Virginia Placer neighborhood with lofted layouts, compact comfort, and generous natural light.
Throughout, the design balances affordability and sustainability with passive solar strategies, durable materials, and low-maintenance finishes, establishing a resilient community within walking distance of downtown Telluride.
